Sculpted Sling Dining Side Chair

Vladimir Kagan often drew inspiration from the organic curving lines that he observed in nature. Early in his design practice, he began to explore how wood could be sculpted into sinuous shapes in order to emulate these natural forms. The Sculpted Sling Dining Side Chair, which debuted in 1955, is a perfect example. A sleek sling seat is suspended in a sculpted frame, with wide-set legs that exude confidence and join at unexpectedly dynamic angles. Also available as an arm chair.

The internal frame is domestically crafted using kiln-dried solid maple for signature durability. The external structure of carved solid walnut wood is assembled and sanded by hand.
