Floating Curved Sofa
by Holly Hunt
-
First designed in 1952, the Floating Curved Sofa united two early Kagan signatures — curved shapes and elegantly sculpted wooden frames. Its organically carved frame supports a curved seat and a suspended backrest, appearing to float. Quietly dramatic with generous seating and a light footprint, this piece craves placement away from walls and is striking from every angle.

The internal frame is domestically crafted using kiln-dried solid maple for signature durability. Constructed with 8-way hand-tied springs in the seat and sculpted back upholstery with layers of multi-density foam for consistent comfort. The external structure of carved solid walnut wood is assembled and sanded by hand.
